Look who’s standing like a big kid! And boy, did we experience a range of emotions at the pumpkin patch with Calvin. Haha! One thing that brought him all the smiles…this pint-sized Radio Flyer wagon. I’ve never laughed so hard. Calvin’s Mom and Dad are still amazed at his affinity for this little wagon. I don’t think you’ll notice his sheer joy. [insert laughing with tears emoji]
I had THE BEST time with this family at Kenosha Pass! You’ll recognize half of this group if you’ve been on my blog anytime this year. Calvin is back again. ;-) His hair is even better than it was two months ago! And this time his Nana, Dood and Uncle Logan joined the party. I wouldn’t hate an invite to family dinners. Just saying.
The light was perfect, the aspens…well, you see, and the heat didn’t set in until it was time to go! They even directed us to a super awesome campsite that the hubs and I pitched our tent on after their session! It was a win for all of us…at least I think so. ;-)
This little man. He was happy, hungry then asleep within 45 minutes time. Pretty much how all adults are we just don’t usually have the option to act on the tiredness like Theo did. Cracked us up. You never really know how family photos with littles are going to go but I’m glad this Mom and Dad smiled through all the emotions and silliness.
Note to all you readers with littles: smile through your little ones’ emotions and desires to run the opposite direction. It all works out in the end and sometimes you need to remember those seasons in life. With, you know, pictures to prove it.
Theo got to play in downtown Denver and even rock-climb before falling asleep. I think he’s joining a climbing gym soon.
This girlie and all her smiles!! We had the best time at the Denver Botanic Gardens! It was in full bloom to say the least!
This was our second session with this little nugget this year and I'm looking forward to the next! Talks of Fall and Winter and deciding where to go...makes me so excited! I LOVE the changing of the seasons. There's something so refreshing about it to me...well, except when summer comes along...then it's mostly sweat not so much refreshment in my opinion. Then again, without that summer heat these awesome sunflowers wouldn't come to be. Anyway...this girl gave us all the smiles thanks to her super fun parents.
This little cutie had his third session of the year last week! He kills me. There were bubbles, dogs, and lots of grass eating...well, maybe not lots. I think his momma got most of it out of his mouth before getting her finger chomped. This amazing lady loves you big time little man. And I had the best time rolling around in the grass with you! There was only one struggle with this session...choosing the photos to share with you guys! I can't pick a favorite. Goes to show you how a really simple session can still produce tons of beautiful moments to remember forever. Just a mom and her kiddo enjoying the mid-day sun.
Those baby blues!! Double meaning there. Man, I'm good.
Calvin and his parentals made a little dream of mine come true this month. When we moved here I dreamt of walking from our apartment over to the Denver Botanic Garden to meet a client for a session. I got to do that with this sweet boy!! It was so much fun! Having clients that want to go on little adventures with me is THE BEST! I'm so thankful for this sweet family and the rest of the year we have together!
This little lady is no stranger to my camera either. I got to spend the first year of her life with her and her family. She's always been very chill during our sessions. I mean, she's just so stinking cute! And she's always worn my favorite little outfits! This one was another fav of mine.
Anywho...I'm so glad we got to catch up on my recent Knoxville visit! And I know this little cutie will put a smile on your face today.
1. I love going back to visit my sweet Tennessee and Knoxville community. 2. I LOVE watching my little client-babies grow!
This little man was a lot littler the last time I saw him in our home in Knoxville. Now he's growing and moving all over the place! This sweet family is the best. I'm so glad we got to catch up a little during my visit in May. Looking forward to watching this little man grow for many years to come! Pretty bummed I have to do it from so far away.
This kiddo...She was on one the day we met for our session. We we're all chasing after her during our session. haha! No little redhead I'd rather chase more. She and her parents are some of the best neighbors we've ever had. During our renovation projects on our house in Knoxville they were always there to help. Need a drill last minute? They've got us. Need a bathroom at all hours of the day because the bathroom tile took wayyyyy longer than we thought? They've got us. Need a place to stay when I go back for work? They've got me. That's just scratching the surface.
This kiddo just welcomed a little sister into the world in the last couple of days!
This little man. And his furry friend. Just my favorite.
Funny little insight into my world...I had not met Calvin nor his sweet parents before rolling up to their home for their session. Not smart. The night before our meeting I kept kicking myself for picking their home as our first meeting place. You know...single female going to a stranger's home. My main squeeze was on call. I pulled up and it was a cute house...I knocked on the door and Calvin's dad and fur-brother answered (it's fine, he's a nice enough looking guy. Super sweet dog I thought.)...I walked in and their place was beautiful and cleaner than my house will ever be...Calvin and his momma walked in the room and I quickly knew I was going to be just fine. I sent the 'I'm fine' text and we got the formalities out of the way so we could capture some moments of this sweet boy's life. :-)
Moral of the story, meet your clients before you go to their home or trust your gut. haha!
I'm super pumped to say that I'll get to know these guys much better over the course of a year!
Eek!! I'm so excited to spend the next year documenting the fresh life of this little girl. Have I mentioned how much I love the For Every Season package?! I LOVE getting to watch these sweet nuggets grow while getting to know their parents. They grow up so fast! (Insert grandmotherly southern drawl.)
For our first session I met Claire and her folks at their home in Golden. Her momma loves bright colors and I loved the art on their living room wall so we used that as a backdrop for a few. This first photo...perfection. Enjoy meeting this fam! It won't be the last time you see them.
I am loving watching this little guy grow! Little Gerber Baby right?! Sweet little cheeks, big bright eyes, happy smile...total Gerber Baby. (P.S. You've got to see this year's cutie!)
If you don't remember, Luca's parents will be sharing him with me for a whole year! The next time you see those cheeks he will be six or seven months old! So crazy. This time we met at Cheesman Park. I loved being able to walk to "work." I may have looked a little destitute -- wearing clothes worthy of lying on the ground, no make-up, and a wagon full of equipment/my secret weapon (my step-ladder...vertically challenged). They seemed to be fine being seen with me. :-) I dunno how I find such kind clients. Oh, and I loved that the pups made another appearance in our session! I felt like a dog trainer walking around with a bag of treats in my pocket and slobber on my trigger finger. But I have zero complaints. I loved every moment.
There are more than nine bests in 2017 but here are nine of my favorites from family and newborn sessions this year!Read More
Do you know what this only child loves more than anything? Chaos. The craziness that happens inside the home of a family with lots of littles. Especially these littles. I love trying to focus on capturing the beautiful crazy that is happening around me while I'm in a family's space. Do I often wonder what has happened to me or if I captured even one suitable image after I leave our time together? Sure! But I wouldn't trade it for anything. Someone is crying, screaming and the other asking questions about my camera. Meanwhile the parents are trying to maintain composure with their kids while making sure I don't need anything...I assure them things are perfect. And that their kiddos are so cute I could pinch their little heads off. Somehow after it all I walk away with some of the sweetest frames that I hope will bring this family back to these chaotic moments years from now.
Another thing I love...seeing the differences in personalities of the little people. These little people could not be more different. The middle kiddo...well, I think his mom is going to write a book about him. Fingers crossed that I get to hear all the highlights from his life. The eldest, he is the kindest, most attentive big brother. He's gonna stick to whatever path he decides to go down. The little guy...I think he is just going to be along for the ride.
I met this momma (new website...killer!) thru another artist momma a couple of years ago. We first worked together when I photographed some incredible works of art that she made in addition to some other awesome artists. I missed their show this past Spring as we were moving across the country. And I was real sad about it.
Luckily, we got to catch up again this Fall during a mini session. And I'm hoping Mom and Dad come to CO on a ski trip this year so they can show me how its done.
This boys are so much bigger than last year! I love watching families grow. Its real, real fun.
You guys. This little Luca slept through our entire session. No matter his parent's best efforts...this kid snoozed hard! Luca is the sweetest, crazy-haired chunk. His parents and his second mom (that four-legged furball below) love him so!
Aside from wanting to bring Luca home with me...I had the best time learning more about the beginning of this sweet family. It's one of those stories you see played out in the movies. Two families raising their children together; falling out between Dad's; one family moves away; years later the parents restore relationships; an even deeper relationship is born between Luca's parents. These two have photos of themselves as children playing together on the walls of their home. It is just the coolest! I almost cried as Luca's dad shared their story. I can't get over it.
Ok, back to what you guys are here for.
I've had the pleasure of working with this fam the last three Fall seasons in Knoxville. This year I lucked out! I had a wedding in Knoxville this past month and because of that trip back other Fall sessions I would have normally done got squeezed in as well!
For my new Colorado friends, this is what October looks like in Tennessee...if you're in a private rose garden on the Tennessee River anyway. Hydrangeas and roses still blooming, green grass, gray skies and a chill in the air here and there. The day of this session the air was cold and wet. These guys braved it though. Quick snuggle sessions with Dad and Bunny kept this girl smiling.
